Hudsonian whiteface (Leucorrhinia hudsonica)

There were literally thousands of dragonflies of many species swarming everywhere in this area. And little wonder, the blackflies, mosquitoes and deer flies were abundant and we were happy to have the dragonflies plucking these little biters away from us!

A lovely capture of this 'whiteface'. We have similar Leucorrhinia species here but this year they seem to be almost absent due to cold and miserable weather!
