This was one of the earliest land grants in colonial NSW, made to Thomas Arndell, surgeon, who arrived in the
First Fleet. He apparently preferred farming to the practice of medicine and got himself a pension to allow him
to develop his farm and father lots of children. And become a magistrate and get married. In that order, I think.
He was my great-great-grandfather's half-sister's grand-daughter's husband's grandfather. Almost an uncle.
There are good picnic and camping facilities, and a fine 1820s homestead, but the bush is sadly degraded.
The kangaroos like it, however. These are pictures taken on several different visits, over about twelve years.
Note: Clicking on "view map" will show a network of paths through
the park. Most of these are overgrown or don't exist now. Sad!
