The first of 3 hurricanes to hit Polk County within a 6 week period. Hurricane Jeanne was the strongest, followed by Charley and then Francis. All 3 hurricane centers passed within 15-20 miles from here. Never before had 3 hurricanes hit the same county within the same season.
