I walked in with my narrowed down three choices, Canon 300D, Nikon D70 or the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ20. A customer right behind me looked over the top of his specs at me holding this one & said " Your mad if you don't !! " then produced his own from inside the camera bag hanging over the sleeve of his workmens shirt. " Look at these. Took them today on the site where I was working...now you wont get better than that !! " The camera shop salesman had already told me that he had a friend who adores hers so what was I to do...Well, I told them both they need to join pbase & both copied the url's down, then I accepted the offer of a good discount on the camera,a new SD,UV filter & camera case & walked out thinking, I am never going to take as photos as good as Lee Kindness, whos perfect pics & big 12x optical I have always admired, but this is all about having fun isn't it..??

Oooh. Have to tell you, this camera (or possibly its predecessor) was on my short list when it came down to making my decision on a digital camera. That zoom made me drool. I wish there was a way to be able to pick and choose from all the functions from different brands and create your own "Super Camera". Still, I think you did good. Happy shooting!

Quite upset now. I've been waiting for mine arriving since early January.
There is a part shipment from Panasonic arriving tomorrow but apparantly mine will be in the next shipment.

New hardware is so fun and cool! Looking forward to some new, outstanding shots. And these cams can be so appealing, what with never having to worry about lenses and sensor dust!

Karen Leaf26-Feb-2005 03:39
Oh Laine, I am SO excited for you! We're all gonna be following every step-and you'll do so well with it. Nothing quite like that new gear feeling -- except seeing the gorgeous reults, of course!
Guest 26-Feb-2005 00:52
I've been considering that camera too. But I haven't found anyone local with a good deal for the Lumix. I read the reviews at DPreview they appear to be good.I hope you have a good experiance with it Laine. Nice shot too

(blushes) - nice one Laine! Make sure you have FUN! Give me a shout if you want any tips on the Fluzi! Oh, first gotcha I think you'll run into is in macro (either macro, A, S or M modes) you can only use up to 2.8X magnification, but you'll still get great flower shots!
