Mandersons Dance Centre~Rockhampton

I don't like change that much but a few months ago my old account ( since 2004 ) was so slow
that I made a decision to open a second one to see if it speeded things up a bit...it did I'm happy to say...
and though I don't particularly like having to pay twice per year there is no way I could part with my old account
where I have 74,179 comments and my 3834 images have been viewed a total of 1652196 times

Comments made & friendships formed are what makes Pbase a great community and as yet I have not seen anything to equal that.

I do know many are disenchanted with the management of this site & what seems to be a lack of interest in communicating with those who have complaints or even just minor issues & many are trying to decide on moving on, but are trying to do it as a group so as not to lose the friends they have here...I do wish pbase management would hear this & listen to those who have helped to make it what it is....

I have spent time browsing my old account tonight, not so much at looking at my photos but reading some of the comments left by many of you....so could I leave ? I don't think so, but I fear many will soon & I will miss them all.

Congratulations on so many comments Laine. It doesnt surprise me at all though as your work is always so beautiful especially your macros!! Well done, I hope this account does as well for you as the old one Laine.
Best regards,

I agree about the wonderful friendly community that has built up and the many many true friendships that have been forged and for this reason i will not leave PBase. I'm lucky that I don't seem to have too many problems despite a shaky internet connection!! So let's all just turn up the volume and BOOGIE!!!!!!

I seldom have problems with Pbase - excepting those issues which affect *everybody* (missing thumbs and the dreaded red X etc), here in the south west of the UK I very rarely have a slow connection, most page loads are completed between in less than 5 seconds. But I agree with you about the lack of communications from admin - I get frustrated by that even when I'm not affected!!

I think we should stage a hostile takeover, "PBase for and of the people" - I'm sure there must be enough subscribers around with the skills to make it happen :o)

You are right Laine. It's such a shame that the management is so reluctant to make improvements and really make the site competitive with all the others that are available.
I am now a member of Deviant art, but for ease of use and the community feel you can't go past pbase.

Let's stay...it's a great 'club'! Shall we dance...?

I love old buildings like this and I love your photos so I'm glad you decided to stay.

Nice picture of dancing building.
While Pbase is so slow at times, I wish they would charge a fixed amount for the whole year, not just based on storage space.
Definitely need to upgrade their server as so many log in and use this site.
I still stay here for the nice people I have gotten to know but also use Flickr but its not the same at all. Pbase rocks when it works. :)

Strictly ballroom? Does the sign say "Pbase use side entrance"? I think they do.....

Sadly I agree with you, many will go, though I'll hang on for the same reasons as you, Laine.
This gallery does move a lot quicker, I'm happy to say.
Though I was 'shocked' to find it still so very slow at pbase, after being gone for over 4 months. Shame on them.
Love your shot and POV.
