The lovely lace work of the Regatta Hotel & a hint of Jacaranda blooms, on Coronation Drive, Brisbane. This hotel was made famous as the birthplace of women's liberation in Queensland, when in 1965 two woman ( one being the mother of Sigrid Thornton, Australian actress, )chained their ankles to the MEN ONLY bar & demanded to be served !!

Took this as we skimmed along the river in the City Cat

Lovely building. Is the tree blooming? Or is a vine growing up the tree. I guess I'd better go look up Jacaranda blooms. Whatever the answer it is beautiful and delicate.

Very delicate and intricate. And the flowering tree really adds to its feminity. Personally, I have nothing against all men bars. I think there should be all women bars too so we can drink in peace. :)

Lovely shot and great history tip. Although I question the sanity of women chaining themselves up willingly where men go to be...men.

Great lace work on the balconies. We had that happen here in San Diego at our Hotel Grant when the women descended on the Grant Grille and did a big sit in. Not sure what year ... late 60's or early 70's I'd guess.
