Beijing Summer Palace

Sprawling grounds of the Summer Palace in Beijing, China, developed in the Qing dynasty as a retreat from the Forbidden City. Many temples, residence halls, and more are built into Longevity Hill, which overlooks a large lake with many boats. With Beijing smog looming overhead, the Palace was a window into the residential life of the emperor.
