A fantastic question. I often find only one shoe, and have wondered this myself in the past.

A good question. :) I love this image! It is so beautiful with the bokeh and tones. A very elegant presentation of this shoe. V

One of the existential questions of all time, along with what happens to the lost socks! WOnderful shot!! V

I have often wondered that, I guess if there were two together they would not be lost?
Anyway, a fantastic image of this lost shoe. v

They only leave one behing to keep us guessing where the other one is.......

And what do they do with the other shoe? A soulful capture, Karen. V

...because if they had laces and were tied together they would be hanging from telephone pole wires and be in plain view.

Shoes are sneaky. They think they have a better chance of escape if they split up. :)
Intriguing thought and superb photo, Karen.
Best regards,
Dick:)

Unlike socks it's the washing machine that eats those.... :) Nice find, Karen

Ah yes. The question that has made wise people pause for generations. Why does this happen?
Well documented. Love the B&W! V

Yes..this is so true! I always think about that, if I see shoes on the street! Good thinking and of course a great shot! V.

I have no clue....good one...guess one drops and they just leave it behind. Socks are what make up the rings around Saturn.

Excellent composition and dof for the theme. Artistic and powerful. v

Bit like lost socks..I think there is a gremlin that goes about steeling odd ones...
the tones and mood ,of this sole survivor capture, are great..

A question of the ages. Great find and capture, Karen. V

Cool shot with this depth of field. I wonder how one can lose a shoe to begin with. Socks are a whole other matter as there is a secret compartment in driers where they disappear. "V"

I wonder that everytime I see just one shoe... you'd think you'd notice...
Great image :) BV

Good question. Maybe this is the shoe that is looking for the lost sock that happens when you do the laundry. Nice focus! V

one moment of neglect, or a wavering awareness..tons of 'soul' in this image...V

I don't know. I'm still trying to find socks that have lost a mate somewhere in the laundry, never to be seen again. Great DoF and composition here. V
