West Virginia

An apple a day keeps the doctor away."
Unknown

This traces back to an old English saying: "Ate an apfel avore gwain to bed, make the doctor beg his bread."

Everyone here has apple trees. So you know winter is at its end when you no longer have any of your own to eat and have to buy them. At least I keep telling myself that. :)

On the other hand, it gives you a chance to try out other types of apples that you may not have in your orchard!
I like the close-in focus on the stalk here, which is obviously dried out a little. That reinforces the story that this is from the Kwik-E-Mart via refrigerated storage rather than being fresh from Sir Isaac's field.

How true, I ran out of apples a few weeks ago. Time to get some at the market! Great close up shot. V

Scientists have proved that an apple a day is VERY good for us. I wonder how they found that out in the old days.
Beautiful soft image and perfect focus on the end of the stalk.
