As a 'Black on White' pencil artist I love old deserted buildings. They are part of our history and tell their own story of that era. Beautiful pictures and gallery and I wait for more.

Thank you for helping me to travel through West Virginia. For four years while a student at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, VA, my escape from the pressure of studies was to hop in my car and drive west just a few miles and then explore West Virginia. This virtual tour brings back memories.

I love these old buildings, yet I find them a little sad as well. For some reason I always find myself wondering what they looked like when they were new.

I have really enjoyed your gallery. I found the link on the Oly forum. The structure in 'Someone Lives Here' reminds me a bit of the farmhouse on the old TV show 'Green Acres'. I'm sure I'll visit again.

Oh I love these! West Virginia! So strange. We're Dutch and we live in the north of The Netherlands but in 1985 we lived in Elkins for one year. My wife taught European history at D&E college. I wrote feature stories for Dutch newspapers. One of them was on the beauty of the old buildings and bridges in West Virginia...

Now if I could only figure out why such old dilapidated buildings draw us so? I see you have a love of old wooden structures, I too can't pass one, no matter how run down. Great color in this wonderful gallery! Keep em coming, they're a rare breed, always disappearing.
