George Assignment Railroad Ave. (Bridgeport Ave) 5/27/03
Around 8am Tuesday morning, Bridgeport's Rescue Co. 5, upon being cancelled from an mva on I-95, came across smoke emitting from 1325 Railroad Ave, a 4-story boarded up brick industrial building near the railroad tracks. The George-4 Assignment was then struck and companies went to work.
They found heavy fire blowing out of the A-side of the structure on the 3rd floor once the boarded up windows were pulled off. After making an aggressive interior push, companies were pulled out due to the heavy fire conditions caused by racks upon racks of cardboard storage.
As soon as conditions allowed, companies were let back into the building to finish up. 8 engine companies, 3 trucks, 1 rescue, Battalion-1, Deputies 1 and 2, Car-1, Arson, 3 safety officers, and the command vehicle responded to this fire. Companies from Fairfield, Stratford, and Milford covered several of the Bridgeport fire stations.
