I remember the fire also. It was early evening. The group I was in were sent to our living area and sat it out. No evacuation. a maintenance man died retrieving his savings from his room. RS

Wow,I remember the fire and Dale Pembleton and myself were cleaning the bathroom, sudzing everything up, and the fire occurred and we had the door closed, didn't know what was going on when we opened the door, seen all the smoke and ran to the balconey and had to jump to the ground. We always use to get in all kinds of trouble.

I can't believe the emotions this brought when I viewed the pics.... this was the home my sister and I were in when I was 11 (for a year). I did have 3 meals a day- but I remember the abuse; cleaning, beatings with paddles, Mass every morning, rosaries in the afternoon, the evenings. The dorms... Sat. cleaning most of the day, only two changes of clothes back then. One for week days - one for Sundays.
