When I was familiar with the BFD the North Division Chief was B-56 and South Division was B-55.

Ladder 9 & Engine 2 were on the corner of Jersy & Plymouth Sts. Not Virgina St as Mr Whealen stated, The old firehouse is 4 blocks from Niagara St near Klienhans Music hall

This is the newest fire station in the Buffalo Fire Department. The firehouse was built to replace Engine 2, Ladder 9's quarters down the street at Jersey Street and Virginia Street. That station currently is occupied by a restoration company and is significant in Buffalo firehouse architecture. This station was built in 1997 and housed Engine 2, Ladder 9, and the Division Chief(B-56).
Ladder 9 was stricken from the roster in March 2004 due to budget cuts. A out of town report has been followed hand in foot by the Masiello Administration. Downtown Buffalo as well as the Lower West Side are now left without adequate fire protection.
The Division Chief, responds to all structure alarms and haz-mat situations. He is the highest commanding field officer in the department. The Buffalo Fire Department used to have 2 Division Chiefs, known as North and South Divisions. (B-48, B-49). However, due to budgetary issues it was elected to have Division Chief for the Fire Department.
