This station was built in 1966 and consolidated Engine 37 from it's quarters on Cleveland Avenue (Chemical 5) and Engine 11, Ladder 4 from Niagara Street.(Currently Rich's Bakery Outlet occupies the former station.) This firehouse was known as the "Big House". It housed Engine 11, Engine 37, Ladder 4, Squad 3, and the 4th Battalion (B-44).
Engine 11 was disbanded in 1973. The Squad companies were disbanded in the 1970's. Rescue 2, the city's 2nd Heavy Rescue Company, was formed here in 1978 and ran out of this station until July 1, 1994 when Rescue 2 was cut from the roster. Lastly, the site this station is built on actually was the site of Engine 17, which was disbanded in 1936 and had a station in the same architecture design as Engine 16, 18, 19, and 22.
