I attended Holy Name and made my first Holy Communion, etc. there until my family moved out of the neighborhood in 1988. It's sad to see the old churches and neighborhoods changing, mainly for the worse. I used to help the nuns clean the church on Saturdays, and loved how clean the convent was. Always something good cooking. If any inside photos are available, please email me at cpalmerd@hotmail.com. Thanks!

TO PEGGY; I RECIEVED MY FIRST HOLY COMMUNION IN THIS CHURCH. AND ATTENDED SEVERAL OTHERS WHILE GROWING UP IN BUFFALO ST. MARY MAGDALINE, AMONG OTHERS. AND IT IS SAD TO SEE WHATS HAPPENING TO THE OLD BUILDINGS. JUST LOOKING AT THE PICTURE OF HOLY NAME, IT BRINGS BACK A LOT OF MEMORIES. EASTER SUNDAY, THE SMELLS OF THE INCENTS AND THE LILIES, PALM SUNDAYS AND THE SMELL OF THE CANDLES, AND THE SPECTACULAR ORGAN MUSIC AND MIDNIGHT MASS AT CHRISTMAS, BUT BUILDINGS DON'T LAST FOREVER AND I'M REMINDED THAT THE CHURCH IS NOT THE BUILDING BUT THE PEOPLE WAYNE DIEBOLD ALEXANDER ARKANSAS armorbearerseph611@sbcglobal.net

I grew up in this neighborhood, attended church and school at Holy Name of Jesus. Do you have any photos of the inside of the church? I know that now it is closed, but are there more photos, even other views of the outside? What is being done with this church and others like it? Are they just there, not in use, but kept by the diocese somehow? It is very sad.
