hey cool iive in mcgregor mn and i remember the insion and i also remember lotz of ppl drivn round takn shots of them!!! too bad they dont come back for a visit :)

I love these Great Grey and Northern Hawk Owls. You captured them beautifully and I hope that they will return when teh snowy winters return. An invasion like this is a phoptographers dream. You made great use of the opportunity.

These were taken in Aitkin County, Minnesota from December 2004 through March 2005. We experienced an irruption of both Great Grey and Northern Hawk Owls because of a shortage of forage up north. At times I could count up to 20 owls a day along the roadside from my home to Duluth, MN where I work. With all of these images I simply stopped on the roadside and shot from my car window. Unfortunately for me, now that our snow is gone the owls seem to have returned to their northern homes and I have seen none in the past week. Kim

Kim, can you tell us anything about how these shots were made? I count at least three different species of owls. Were they all in one place at one time? At daytime? That is photographers paradise! :)

Nice gallery of Great Grays. They have been invading eastern Ontario, Canada as well. It has truly been a joy to photograph them and recently I caught two Great Grays engaged in an aerial encounter I'll not forget soon.
