Love your pictures of these engaging rodents. I had a b&w hooded female that was finally put to sleep as she developed tumors on her body making it difficult for her to walk. I have found many homes for babies in my science classes as the students realized what great pets they can make. The kids loved them, the parents not so much! Voted.

I adore your pictures. My daughter and I brought home Nettie and fell instantly in love. Went out the next day and got her a freind a russian blue, so pretty, named Rain. Being novice at it by several months end we had 27 rats!!!!!!!!!!!! Alas they all went to good homes and Miss Nettie was with us for over 4 years. She passed a year ago and we miss her like it was yesterday. We have 2 new ones now, and they are wonderful. We had a naked rat but he got ill and passed away =(

Not sure if you'll come back and check Kellie but I'll answer here anyway. Shimmer was a mink colour. She had no agouti ticking at all it was just the way the light shone on her glorious fur :) She died last autumn, I miss her still.

AHH! You have a dumbo! COOL! I have two currently, and I thought jacob was a very unique color- never seen another rat colored like him until your Shimmer popped up on this page! Aren't they a beautiful brown? Do you know what type of agouti this is? like, is it a platnium agouti or something? Email me! We'll talk ratties!

I found you because I also listed pet rats as one of my "interests" on my blog site! Yours are very adorable. My vetrenarian refers to rats as "minature golden retrievers" because they make such wonderfuy pets. I wish more people understood that. I have two right now, Maverick and Goose. If I ever figure out how to post a photo on my blog I will. Thanks for sharing, you have a beautiful website.

I think it's so cool that you have rats as pets. I know alot of people would think that was "disgusting", since rats have such a bad reputation. I always felt that rats get a bad rap so to speak, although I guess in a city like New York, they are bad for carrying disease. I remember one time I was heading down the subway stairs in Manhattan, and a rat was scurrying across the platform, and a man walking behind the rat kicked it with his foot. I was really upset by that. I mean, after all, the rat's just a rat, trying to get by in life like all the rest of us, right? :--)
