Has Jim Bakker changed? www.collings-bakker.com

Kevin had a condition called osteogenesis imperfecta, a genetic disorder characterized by bones that break easily, often from little or no apparent cause. It is also called Brittle Bone Disease. People with OI are born without the proper protein (collagen), or the ability to make it. Fractures are a common occurence, no matter how carefully one handles a child with OI.

Kevin was adopted by a couple, the wife of which I believe -- if memory serves me correctly -- was a cousin of Jim Bakker. He was 17 when he was featured on PTL. Jim Bakker had Kevin's House built in a month.

I remember how disarming and kind-hearted Kevin was. He had a larger-than-life spirit. Jim Bakker followed his heart in building Kevin's House for children with similar handicaps.

Kevin was a boy who was tiny for his age and had physical deformities. He used a small elecric wheelchair. He had major handicaps and I think he had cerebral palsy. I remember seeing him on a program when they were telling about building the house for him. His mind seemed to be alert. I remember he had dark hair.

It seems like Kevin may have been related to them somehowbut not sure. It saddens me that he passed. I remember seeing him on the Jim and Tammy show.

This is the oddest house I've ever seen.

So sad to see everything that has happened to Heritage USA. It was a great place to take a family for a vacation or just a day trip for picnics, swimming and activities. So many activities you couldn't do them all in one day. Safe, clean place. It was kept in immaculate condition under the original ministry. Lots of nice, courteous people worked there. Too bad the end was such a tragedy for alot of people.

I'm not the best person to ask, but I believe Kevin to have been a young man with a handicap that hindered his growth. PTL built this house for Kevin and other special needs kids in a flash build/telethon. I think it was built in under a month, or something crazy fast like that. Kevin was not expected to live to adulthood and has since passed away. The house burned to the ground a few years ago. Arson is suspected.
