Images from the Light Show "Season of Light" ("Valon Vuodenaika" in Finnish) by Mikki Kunttu, at the Senate Square in Helsinki. The show did run from January 1 to 11, 2009.

The church by the Senate Square is the Helsinki Cathedral and the other major building in some of these images is the Senate Building. The Square and the buildings around it were constructed in uniform neoclassical style (Karl Ludwig Engel, 1778-1840) after Finland became a Russian autonomous Grand Duchy after being seceded from Sweden in 1809.

The statue is of Alexander II, tsar of Russia. Finland declared independence in 1917.
