My last name is " VANK ", John. Born and raised in Canada. My father was born in Hungary 1912, immigrated with his parents (my grandparents) in 1925. His name and his father's name was John (English version). The first born son in the family's where named after their grandfather's (and father) Tradition ? Anyways, I do have a question. Because of my last name would my ancestory go back to Armenia and then to Iran ? If you have an answer or question contact me at jhcvank@sympatico.ca

i am an Armenian-Iranian too & my parents still live next door to this cathedral ; you can also enjoy the cofe teria located on the same alley called "Ani".thanks for posting this images .by the way to answer to one of the guest asking about the religion practiced at Vank :defnetly "Cristian"

I am Jackson Tan Said Meng. I am a Malaysian Chinese and my age is 52 years old. I came to Iran ( Tehran/Esfahan/Shiraz) in February 2007 and have enjoyed the splendid end of winter. In Esfahan, I was indeed very surprise to see a church. I am also a Christian (evangelical christian and born again). I hope to visit beautiful Esfahan again and being able to step into a church to see for myself the beauty of its architectural built. I hope to meet some Iranian Jew and learn about their lifestyle.

Yes this church still use as a church.Inside this church you can see magnificent paintings and piece of arts(naked paintings)This church built 400 years ago in safavid dynasty under the order of shah abbas the great. This is one of many churchs in Esfahan. Also we have jew temples in Esfahan and so Fire temples and all of them use for their own relligions.Yes. You can come see for yourself my frind. Wellcome to Esfahan.
