old highway 8. from laona, wi to norway, mi

near Norway, MI

...my grandmother and grandfather were married at
Norway, Michigan, in 1922; they would
have traveled up this old road to get
to Norway...the marriage wasn't favored
by my grandmother's parents...

A road to the past...I love these small country backroads. They certainly make you slow down -- they didn't plan for horse and buggies to hit upwards of 60 mph in those days, especially on the curves! I'm sure it doesn't stop some people, but the scenery is usually worth going slower for anyway.

Now that's a "back" road. Looks narrower than Massachusetts' backroads.

looks like the road had the same opinion . . obviously it was a "through" street when they needed it
