Army Days in South Korea

Some photos I took while serving with the US Army in South Korea. I was stationed at Camp Page with the 1st Battalion 42d Field Artillery in Chunchon. The 42d Field Artillery was a Honest John Rocket battalion but also had missions with the Republic of Korea Army 155mm and 8 inch Howitzer field artillery units. I am a descendant from a Korean mother and afro-american US Army soldier who was stationed in Korea, possibly 1971 but at least 1972. He was most likely stationed in the Pajun area. I have been searching for my dads military year book and I came across your site. He is about to past and it would mean the world to me if I could find one. His original copy was left with our great grandmother and when she passed a family member took possession of it and will not return it. I was wondering if you had a copy or know where I could purchase it. 1ST BN 15th Field Artillery Camp Stanley Korea 1972 I would greatly appreciate any help or suggestions in finding a copy. Had I not been denied military service due to very bad eyesight, I would have wanted to be stationed in Korea. It's nice to see what I missed back in 1973/1974, which is when I would have entered the Army.

I am looking for old squad leader bill emmons he was in a honest john unit in korea about 1977 1978 time frame. We served together in an Aviation AVIM unit (B co 205th Trans bn) 1981 1984 thanks for the space to do this.

spec.4 Fowler. I was stationed at Camp Essayons from august 1971 to seotember 1972. I was an artillery mechanic, worked in the motorpool in B battery 6/37th artillery. Like most young guys, I grew up a lot During my tour. At the time, it didn't seem like very good duty, but looking back, it was one of the best experiences of my life. It's kind of sad to see camp essayons as well as many other compounds shut down and erased by by Korean expansion.

Hey,I was there in71-72.At that time it was still5/38FA.Camp Stanley.Was in motor pool,forward obs.and many times at DMZ.Saw lot of changes even back then.Had friends from all over.You all take care,and live long,,,

I was station at camp page from mar 65 to mar 66 i was glad to see thst someone served on the ADM. Plt because VA tells me that it never exist, same as some of the acid stuff we had to dump. But i had a great time, got to play basketball against players like larry brown, got to visit japan and got to see how other people lived and made me relized that the usa us the greatest country ever

I've been trying to find anything concerning CC1, an Honest John Artillery Base, part of Camp Casey. I was TDY there for 6 months in 1963 from 7th Div Admin Co. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who was there or has ANY info on CC1. BTW, was there for Bob Hope's Show, too. Thanks, Jim

Was stationed at Camp Greaves from 1973-1974, 1/31st Inf (M) CSC Redeye Plt. Still got my yearbook, was only 18, brings back lots of memories. Once a month for a week, had to take turns guarding Redeye missiles at the 4/7 Cav post(think it was Camp Stanton or Stanley, not sure which one)

I was at Task Force Alpha at Camp Kaiser---42nd Honest John Missile Battalion from Dec 59 to Dec 1960. My name is Dennis Webb and I was an AN/GRC 46 radio operator. Hi Mack 1970 nov till nov 71 camp Pelham & 4papa 1. Aph. The kid I was 17 at the time did not get up north till march 1970 .had to jump a 2 1/2 and report to the cap ,you will get your money. 45$ a month. But don't right home and tell that you are up in the d m z. 17 & the only son .

Great shots! I visited Korea twice as part of 5th AF logistics readiness teams in April & June 1995 for total of about 5 weeks. USAF contracting MOS troops rarely get to Korea. I was based in Okinawa & our forward deployment location was on the peninsula.

William Easterling....I was there from June 1971 to September 1973. Alpha Battery 1/42nd FA. I was a trained FDC artillery-man trained at Fort Sill, Oklahoma...but was put in the office to replace a training NCO leaving for California. I guess you could have called me a "Remington (typewriter) Raider. Also saddled with teaching ENGLISH to KATUSAs. Not bad duty for 14 months, and I met a lot of great guys.

Abtry 1/15 Feb73-FEB 74 Remember being at 4p1 a lot also combat pay until oct 73. The Vill outside Camp Stanley.Remember Hearing about NK infiltrators.At the time though it was the end but today realize it was a good time of my life and met a lot of good people.

I spent a year in the DMZ June 1964 to July1965, running a night surveillance radar at GP Anne. We were stationed with "B Troop" just across the river. There were three tank troops there "A", "B" and "C" with an NCO club high on a hill! We were just across "Freedom bridge. Things have change so much I can't find anything that looks familiar! I have a couple hundred slides that I took and still have. Just wrote my story of the 13 months north of the Imjin. I went to radar training school with Bill Birdsong at Fort Sill!

Miss America 1973--how did I miss this!!! I was at the USO Bob Hope Christmas Show at Camp Casey in December 1972 and saw Miss World (Australia) and American singer Lola Falana. I was based at Camp Stanley (artillery) near Uijongbu but spent most of my time along DMZ from 4P1 Fire Base adjacent to Camp Greaves all the way into the Chorwon Valley. In-country from November 1972 to December 1973. My unit, 1/15 FA, was at DMZ and participated in search for NK infiltrators near Yonchon on April 17, 1973--ROKs killed 2 and wounded at least 1. These were the best of times for a nineteen-year-old!!!
