This was a quick snapshot out the window of the truck on the auto tour loop at the refuge. There are two National Wildlife Refuges in the area where wildlife watching may be found. We have visited both Alamosa and Monte Vista on several occasions now while passing through Colorado, and can recommend them both as nice day trip destinations for marsh and grassland birding.
