A short drive into a residential area in Waikoloa Village turned up a number of interesting city birds, like this common myna that was drinking water at this leaky faucet. Mynas were a very common sight on the island for birdwatchers to take in. For a couple of biologists from Arizona, these mynas became the "European starlings" of the Big Island. That is to say, we found them in just about all habitats we visited. They were nearly everywhere we went. A very nicely patterned bird, it was great to see so many of these on the trip.
