Wizard Island

Crater Lake Nat'l Park, Oregon

This last shot of the island inside Crater Lake was taken after the weather turned dark and wet on our way out of the park. Dramatic skies and a nice steely color to the surface of the lake (compare this to the earlier shots of Crater Lake in this gallery) were the advantages of shooting out in the nasty wet weather that day. Every change in weather deserves to be photographed. That was the photographic lesson of this trip.

How true, you have to catch the moment and this is such a fine capture. I like the just visible cloud reflections on the lake and that bit of colour in the foreground, very nice.
