I watch this robin build this nest with great care. (see previous image) She
then laid these two eggs and she never returned to the nest.. I'm confused..

Hope she returns. As for being too close to humans, around here they build nests on porch lights next to doors.

I've heard that once robins see humans too near their nest, they will abandon it. That may be just "fake news", though. (One cannot say "old wives tale" without being accused of sexism, ageism, and perhaps a few other isms :-)

That's quite interesting. I can't imagine what happened to her. But a great shot of these pretty eggs in any case.
