As many of you know,I lost my dog last September 2010 after 14 plus years.

I said I never wanted to go through that kind of hurt again. Well I guess time heals all wounds.
My wife and I have been trying to adopt a dog from a rescue shelter for a month or so.
She has had some serious issues.
She had been strangled and it left her with some neurological issues.
We decided that we wanted to give her a good forever home. We just got her home today.
She is precious. 5/1/2011

Great ongoing series on beautiful and charming Bella. I'm glad after her previous traumas that she ended up with a caring and loving family like yours. We have had quite a few rescue dogs. Our current one, Emma https://pbase.com/dlgphoto/image/159422776, was left deserted and starving. Our previous one, Cosmo https://pbase.com/dlgphoto/image/109721171, was rescued by police right before he was going to be set on fire as some of his companions were - dogs that had been stolen. Some people are so sick and evil. Cosmo had a lot of issues too but we loved him and it worked out well.

Oh what a sad but happy story! Dear Bella is gorgeous and so fortunate to have found a home with you. YES - losing a pet is heart rending but a new one can heal! We waited a long time before replacing our loved Cavalier but once we did so I really stopped missing Charlie. Evie is now our adored pet.

She is a beautiful dog, best of luck with her. She looks part Corgi & part Lab? We have 2 Corgi's and a yellow Lab. They are wonderful photos, take them as often as you can. Make sure you buy her lots of toys and treats for the holidays, she looks like a dog that should be spoiled.

Bella is exactly what her name says as far as my understanding of Italian goes. It's not difficult to see that she is a very happy dog and loves you no less than you love her. I, myself, have a cat (OK, we do) who cured me from wanting to have a dog the moment my wife set this most beautiful kitty (in the eyes of the beholder) on the hall floor 13 year ago. I know that statistics are against Conchita being able to survive me, so what I see here helps me to get ready for the time when my furry buddy is no longer around.

I lost my seven year old little black pug, Ms. Bailey Bentwhiskers, when she went to the vet's to get her nails clipped. She had a cardiac arrest and died. I was devastated as she was my very best friend and had been in good health, and I never again wanted to feel the pain of losing a dog. But life was so empty without her and we adopted a rescue pug that had spent the first two years of her life in a cage and was used for breeding. Bravo to you and your wife for saving Bella. How can people be so cruel to animals? I simply do not understand. Bella... you are beautiful and loved. Miss Mollie Sue (the pug) sends a big WOOF! WOOF! your way.

Thanks for sharing Bella to us! She's such a pretty dog! Your Buttercup was beautiful too. I am sorry for losing her. We too have a 13 year old Lab/Chow named Blazer. I am not looking forward to lose him, since his age is up there. How did u lose Buttercup? Was she sick? Thanks again and keep taking more pictures of Bella! Happy Thanksgiving!

Jim, she is absolutely ADORABLE. Looks like it didn't take her long to relax and fit in. Losing a dog is heartbreaking. It seems one will never heal, but in time, the idea of another canine companion becomes important again. I am so glad you have given this gorgeous girl a home. Jim & Lurna, It looks to me like Bella has allowed you guys to live in HER new home. I'm going to take a different feeling than others. I'm going to say that you guys are the lucky ones. I'm sure that in minutes you guys were cozy with one another. It was like she got you when you were two pups. Bella is lovely! I think both of you are quite lucky to have found each other. I had a similar situation last year and after six months adopted the most wonderful Kuwaiti desert dog from a shelter. I felt the same as you about my beloved Tilki, but Sahraa has more than filled the emptiness. I know you and Bella will be very happy together! V.
