Bella

As many of you know,I lost my dog last September after 14 plus years.

I said I never wanted to go through that kind of hurt again. Well I guess time heals all wounds.
My wife and I have been trying to adopt a dog from a rescue shelter for a month or so.
She has had some serious issues.
She had been strangled and it left her with some neurological issues.
We decided that we wanted to give her a good forever home. We just got her home today.

Glad to hear you rescued a dog and it sure looks like it's working out. We lost our 5 year old Pekingese last November so I know how you feel.

I lost my seven year old little black pug, Ms. Bailey Bentwhiskers, when she went to the vet's to get her nails clipped. She had a cardiac arrest and died. I was devastated as she was my very best friend and had been in good health, and I never again wanted to feel the pain of losing a dog. But life was so empty without her and we adopted a rescue pug that had spent the first two years of her life in a cage and was used for breeding.

Bravo to you and your wife for saving Bella.
How can people be so cruel to animals? I simply do not understand.

Thanks for sharing Bella to us! She's such a pretty dog! Your Buttercup was beautiful too. I am sorry for losing her. We too have a 13 year old Lab/Chow named Blazer. I am not looking forward to lose him, since his age is up there. How did u lose Buttercup? Was she sick? Thanks again and keep taking more pictures of Bella! Happy Thanksgiving!

Jim, she is absolutely ADORABLE. Looks like it didn't take her long to relax and fit in. Good for you and your wife for taking in a special needs dog, especially since neurological issues can sometimes be a little dicier than physical issues. All of you are going to reap the rewards of this adoption for many years to come.

Losing a dog is heartbreaking. It seems one will never heal, but in time, the idea of another canine companion becomes important again. I am so glad you have given this gorgeous girl a home. She sounds like she had a horrible start to her life (how can people do that?!?). Kudos for taking her in.

Jim & Lurna, It looks to me like Bella has allowed you guys to live in HER new home. I'm going to take a different feeling than others. I'm going to say that you guys are the lucky ones. I'm sure that in minutes you guys were cozy with one another. It was like she got you when you were two pups. Bella is lovely! I think both of you are quite lucky to have found each other. I had a similar situation last year and after six months adopted the most wonderful Kuwaiti desert dog from a shelter. I felt the same as you about my beloved Tilki, but Sahraa has more than filled the emptiness. I know you and Bella will be very happy together! V.
