Sky was very dark - this silhouette of the sun is not altered in any way - there's so much ash in the air.

What a brilliant reminder of what must have been a frightening time.

Lovely minimalist photo Jenene - hope the evac hasn't been necessary.

You stayed with the eyes ready for photography, not only for the evacuation watch!

I had just left a comment on Cyndy's similar image, Jenene, and now I see that each of you has independently used a similar concept, and even a similar subject -- a bird -- in your newest images. You and Cyndy both bring your expressive talents to bear on this tragedy with great eloquence. This image should be on the front page of tomorrow's San Diego newspapers because it goes beyond showing the flames and instead gives us a metaphor for man's relationship to nature, and as Cyndy did, you express beauty and tragedy in the same image. My thoughts are with both of you, and all of your friends and loved ones who face trial by fire.

Jenene, I just posted a similar picture on my pbase sight:http://www.pbase.com/cyndycat/image/87776701/original
We are doing okay here, although the smoke, ash, and debris from downed trees is pretty bad. I will pray for your safety.

A very frightening situation Jenene, but at least you've had time to prepare.
I like how you have showed the real situation, but have also turned that into some art also.
Take Care.

Good heavens. It really is an emergency there. Best of luck.
