The shadow is better - have you tried to convert the image to BW? I do not know if that will help or not.

I can see Christine's point here -- "semi-color" can often provide subtle nuance that can add to meaning. But in this particuarly case, the image would leave more to the imagination without that semi-color, and even without the leaves themselves. The abstract shadows of the leaves play their own music here, and do not need either the leaves or the color to make them do so.

I really do like the shadows on this one....it does take some experimenting to use a new camera well.

I do not know why, I really like that semi-green colour - it adds some magic to the photo. At first, I saw the shadow, but I prefer the leaves with that special semi-colour. Phil would have preferred only the shadows, me the other way around :)

My feelings exactly, Phil. My main reason for posting these is to keep a reference point for myself - that way I can look back at my fumbling beginnings easily and know where the improvements can be made!

This is one of those images that does not use color very well -the drab green leaves are halfway between color and black and white. The shadow of the plant is far more etherial than the actual plant -- if you had shot only the shadow it might have been magical, Jenene.
