Having spent a year in India after college, seeing this marvelous, evocative image fills me with nostalgia and enormous sense memory of the subtropics. Your title is perfect, seeming to hint at the power and beauty of female fecundity--that source where males want to return, the seat of life. The slice separating the figures' heads and bodies could be the divide between human and gods. This is a lush, mysterious moment.

the view makes one want to see more of the frieze, by climbing through the hole, brushing past the leaves

Thanks Phil, I love your term, 'furtive dalliance' - it's exactly the feeling I was trying to convey.
And thanks, Ai Li and Kal, for feeling the 'private passion'. ;^))

Yes as Phil says...a private passion...;-))K

Very nicely framed with the leaves. Your pov and dof made me feel as if I'm on a treasure hunt, taking a peek at the sculpture found, yet not wanting to intrude or disturb. And I like the contrasting color too.

The top image is infinitely more expressive, Jenene. You tell a story by juxtaposing subject and context here. We sense a furtive dalliance here, deep in the woods. And those who dally are, quite incongruously, deities.
