I love this photograph, too. The drain, to me, does appear at least a bit like a UFO. I'll guess you had to practically get down on your stomach to both see and make this photograph.

Excellent,Jenene.
So well-seen. I love that you included the drain.

my first thought was this amazinging image has an impressionistic feel to it..however..the drain keeps this image grounded..love your creativity and of course your eye for seeing it..

A richly impressionistic "painting," but one filled with foreboding and threat with an almost apocalyptic flavor, as though this house was about to be engulved by the bright something in the background. It's as though the fragile ecosystem of CA could suddenly dissolve and rush out the drain at the top of the picture, or perhaps evaporate and be sucked into the Great Beyond. This is a marvelous capture, I can see it as the cover of a book on the fate of the Earth.

Amazing image that really tests reality. I like that. K

It takes someone who experienced those fires you speak of, Tim, to see them in this image. These hillsides surrounding us were choked with smoke and ash for days. Fire is a very real threat tin our fair state.

Again, a haunting image - here I see many things - an image that is basically California in its stereotypes - pool, luscious house, and beautiful sunsets - but the haunting aspect of this image to me is that I catch an echo of the horrendous fire that so devastated the San Diego area - our bucolic California lifestyle always has the chance of destruction.

You make a wonderful point, Jenene. We tend to see only what is there when we make a picture, instead of considering possibly different interpretations of what seems so obvious. I mean what else could a disc in a molten sky be?

I never thought about anything other than what it really is - the main drain at the bottom of a swimming pool - except that it didn't belong in the conventional sense. I like your interpretation of other worldly - I can now look at this with renewed interest. I wonder if my neighbors up the hill know they've been visited!

This is an amazing image, Jenene. I don't know if you see the reflection of that smoke detector or whatever it may be as a flying saucer, but given the distortion in the clouds and buldings, it certainly implies an extra terrestrial visit.
