Golden State Star Party 2008. This was held July 2 through July 6 2008 near Adin CA in Modoc County. In mid to late June there were a large number of electrical storms in Northern CA which caused numerous fires and impacted the skies for a number of weeks. Fortunately the skies at the star party where still pretty decent for three of the four nights, and I managed to capture IC 5146 and NGC 7023. I'd normally not try something new at a remote site, but I just received a new CCD camera and couldn't resist the temptation. Despite some initial problems with unfamiliar technology it all worked out well.
