The original Bern bridge was built a century after the city's foundation. The 40-meter long bridge has ever since been constantly renovated yet stands as Fribourg's last bridge made of wood.
Nowadays its baroque style is obvious; however it steps right out of the Late Gothic Era. Its 17th-century central pillar is made of stone while the southern tuff arch, of the same period, is now filled with dirt.
