Rioja Alta is the site where three of the seven Riojan tributaries of the Ebro empty into the latter: the Oja, the Tiron and the Najerilla. Most of the life in the territory revolves around the banks of the River Ebro and the lower beds of these rivers. Only the Sierra de Cantabria in Sonsierra accounts for a different, but at the same time complementary landscape. Except for these areas, the valley as a whole is found at an altitude of 400 to 600 metres above sea level. There are numerous mountains and hills where some of the towns are located, such as Briones, which means we are able to enjoy a wide view covering the section of the Ebro in Rioja Alta, the Sierra de la Demanda to the south and Cantabria mountains to the north.
