Zahara de la Sierra

The remains of the castle at Zahara De La Sierra is a landmark for miles around. It was built by the Arabs on the foundations of a Roman fort and it was the site of much conflict betwen the Moors and Christians. The castle has been renovated and it can be reached by a steep path from the village square. From here are spectacular views. The castle is floodlit at night.
