Built between 1618 and 1631 as a greek-catholoic church, in the Renaissance-Baroque style.
The tower was added in 1690�1698 and was an important element of the fortifications as the church is located right at the defensive walls.
The tower had two rows of an embrasures (opening sometimes called a crenel or crenelle).
