As mad decisions go, agreeing to travel 3,000 miles to spend a week with people I've never met
in a remote wooden fisherman's hut without main services is near the top for me!

Taking one's spouse and making it the main annual vacation just added a little more risk to the plan!

But the remarkable thing about PBase is how well you can get to know people you have never met.
UK day meetups had taught me that people are very close in real life to their PBase identities and personalities.
There are easier ways for 'axe murderers' to make contact via the Internet
than by posting fictitious pictures and comments every day for a year or more!!

From the moment Joan Teno collected us from our Boston hotel
and we chatted like old friends, I felt sure we would have a great week.

Meeting Karen Leaf and Tom Darby as we landed on the Island is a moment I will never forget!
They are such warm funny people who made us both feel right at home.

Similarly Bandito who joined us the next day. Then our little team was complete.

Karen and her parents and relatives (Carl, Audrey, Eric, Tracey, Uncle George, and several more!) made us feel part of the family
which was a unique experience for me.

So thanks again, guys, it was a holiday (sorry, vacation) full of the best kind of memories.

And to anyone else planning to meet up with PBase friends, I say go for it!
