unimpressed sheep

view map

My New Years resolution is to be less prolific and more proficient.
It's nearly three years since, as a complete novice with a camera, I started posting a picture a day.
The main reason was to develop some technique, lately it's been much harder to find a picture each day that I'm happy with.
I sometimes managed to fool people into thinking I knew what I was doing.
From now on I intend only to post pictures I think are worthy even if it means not posting as regularly.
But don't worry I'm still going to be around.
Happy New Year.

This is a really cool shot. Very moody with the dark sky and the sheep staring you down. V

You're a great ambassador for beautiful Northumberland.
Happy New Year Johnny.

I hope 2008 brings you all the photographic success there is, Johnny !!

Excellent low light image Johnny.
I think you hit the nail on the head with regard to posting shots that we think are well done, rather than having the emphasis on posting "something" to make the deadline.
I will join you in the same plan for 2008.....

Just keep up those corny puns JJ!
Have a good one!

Happy New Year, Johnny!
Love this... -- just wonderful in its representation of the weather, the landscape, and those (stupid) sheep...!
(Look forward to seeing more... -- as and when they happen...!)

Maybe we need to start a new grouping. It could be DEP (dedicated to excellence in photography) or POP (proud only postings) or PAW (photo a week)...

Happy New Year John!

Each of us have struggled with this. We all need to find our own path. For me, the challenge of trying to find a shot each day is a goal. Sometimes the shot is good, sometimes it not. However, the joy is setting aside the time each day to try to be creative. Best for 2008!

Ended the year as you mean to go on then! By now though, I thought the sheep would have been more used to you.

Happy New Year JJ, looking forward to viewing your 2008 posts . . .

Ah, the golden fleece, that's the dodgy drug-addled pub in Northallerton I think ;-)
You'd best keep at it or I'll be up there to sort you out... it's not far y'know...!

Awesome pic to end the year with...love the toning you can get with the flat lit, grey days. Has that feeling of being out there and up there.
Shall look forward to your posts in 2008, Johnny...
Happy New Year...

I was tempted to copy and paste your comment to my PaD, i'm struggling to find pics lately too, glad you're sticking around though!

love this! the lines and tones. You make bleakness beautiful.
Jackdad31-Dec-2007 16:32
I like how the sheep fleeces match the tones in the background. Happy New Year...

I read your comment with growing fear and trepidation - how would we all cope without the JJ humour - phew! Glad you'll still be delighting us. Happy New Year!!

Keep those photos coming Johnny! Good writers get better by writing more, ergo good photographers...etc. There is a marvellous sense of place in your images. The rest of us novices have a lot to learn from them.
Nicki Thurgar31-Dec-2007 14:53
Thanks heavens you'll still be around for a daily dose of JJ humour! ;o)
And I've so enjoyed exploring your part of the world through your daily shots!
Have a great New Years Eve!

I love the mood. I also understand your reasoning regarded PAD. You have a good eye and a talent, keep up the good work. Happy New Year!

Excellent with the low moody cloud and the wall lines on the far hillside.
