I can recall walking all the way up the now flooded valley as a youngster in the 1960's
and how the arguments raged over what would be lost and what might be gained.
Thousands of years ago they think one of Dartmoor's glaciers filled this valley
with ice, just up around the corner are bare patches of rock on the hillside called
the 'Slipper Stones' which the experts say show signs of being smoothed by ice. Fascinating...
