based upon the multiple definitions of the word 'funiculus' ('funis'=rope, spinal cord).

A. a steep inclined railway, pulled by a cable
B. stem cells from the umbilical cord
C. the stalk attaching a fruit to its parent plant
D. a curved or arched shape
E. Funicular nerves: a bundle of rope-like nerve fibers in the spinal cord, when damaged
can produce quadriparesis and even death*.
