Day Six

We returned to Kansas City today for a visit to the National WW I Museum. It was very good. What I found interesting was that although the ground war was very well presented, there was almost no coverage of the air and sea war. The had a very large collection of artillery pieces including the famous French 75, arguably the best of the bunch. We spent quite a while in there. Ginny tagged along with some guided tours and learned quite a bit. I should have done that. The difference between that and reading exhibit cards is astonishing.

In the afternoon we went to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of art. They has a nice photography exhibition and quite a bit of real art. There were several galleries of junk disguised as art. It was definitely worth the trip.

Today's photo is of the Liberty Memorial Tower taken through the skylight of the main entrance. Ground was broken on November 1, 1921. There was quite an assemblage of famous commanders which you can see here in 45 second Pathe News clip from the time.
