In the morning we went with Jan and Terry for a tour of the Alamo. The story of the battle and the events leading up to it is very interesting. The Alamo is actually Mission San Antonio de Valero which was built by the Franciscans in the early 1700s. The four of us enjoyed the tour and walking around the grounds. It is a big tourist attraction. In order to get Texas citizenship you have to visit the Alamo. The story of Texas independence came down to four big events. The Texas declaration of independence, the massacre at Goliad, the battle of the Alamo and the decisive battle of San Jacinto where the Mexican army under Santa Ana was finally defeated and Texas became a nation.

We had a nice lunch at a British style pub on the Riverwalk. Lively conversation. Lots of stories to tell. I mostly listened. It is safer that way. After lunch we headed out and had a go at Top Golf. Nobody had ever done that before and it was fun. I came in last behind the girls in the group. That is OK. A couple pitchers of Stella Artois helped quite a bit.

Then it was to dinner at Pappadeaux Seafood. We had a nice time. Afterwards we set up and took a group picture which you see today. From left to right are Jan (cousin), Terry, Debbie (cousin), Ken, Ginny (cousin), me, Theresa and Mike (cousin).
