My birthday was Friday but we decided to celebrate today. Ginny found a very nice Cajun restaurant at the mall when she was out with her goofy girlfriends last month. So we headed over there a little after noon. The place wasn't mobbed, fortunately. We got a nice booth and prepared for a nice lunch. These guys did not disappoint. We shared an appetizer of boudin stuffed jalapenos wrapped with bacon, what's not to like about that. They were very good. Ginny ordered a muffaletta and I ordered a oyster po' boy. Both were excellent. The muffaletta was so large (8 inches in diameter) and so thick that she couldn't eat more than a quarter of it. So we packed it in a go box and took it home. That will feed her for a few days. On the beverage side, I had an Abita Purple Haze beer. It is brewed in Covington, Louisiana. We drive right by it every time we head east on I-10. It is a raspberry flavored beer. Normally, I am not much of a flavored beer guy, but this particular one is very good and refreshing. Ginny had Merlot, of course.
Our tradition for days like this is to give a nice card with nice sentiments and a personalized inscription. The second part is a present. There are restrictions on the presents. They have to be edible. Today I got a whole bag of Reeses peanut butter Easter eggs. They are Ginny's favorite, that is why I got them. She is no fool. I already know what I am getting for her birthday, but it is a secret. Enlightened self interest!
