It was a relaxed day at chez Cross. No deliveries or workers coming to the house. I made oven roasted chicken breasts and baked potatoes for lunch. Still have a lot to learn about our new oven. The convection part is a mystery. It seems to cook faster but I am not so sure that is due to the fact it seems to maintain a higher temperature. More experimentation needed.
Tomorrow we are off to New Orleans for a wedding. It is the daughter of friends from the cry room at church. Even though it is a short one, I still spend time getting the planning right. We are staying at a hotel just the other side of Canal Street from the French Quarter. For those of you who are familiar with that turf, you will remember that it is not very vehicle friendly. There are narrow streets and a maze of one one way streets. We use two different GPS devices when traveling. They are pretty good on the average, but it pays to do your homework. Bing is my favorite online mapping resource. Time spent going over the route is well invested. Once we get to the hotel, we are going to park the car and take it out only once. Fortunately, the festivities for Friday night are right on the St. Charles street trolley line and the hotel is only two blocks from the nearest trolley stop.
