Project Day 88 - Exile Day 38 - Today is Saturday and the only thing that happened at the house was the last of the grouting. The kitchen floor and the upstairs bathroom are now grouted. All the new slate on the first floor has to be sealed, but that will be after the wall painting is complete. As usual Ginny was on the spot all the time the workmen were there. She finished up about noon.

We went out and about for a while. First stop was the furniture store to have a look at the chairs she wants for the kitchen. Sitting in a chair is important to see if you like it. Some were uncomfortable. Some were nice. I offered my two cents worth, but a consultation with Melinda is required to complete the decision making process.

Next stop was the Container Store. We bought a flip top trash can for the kitchen. It had already been vetted with Melinda, so we were good to go. We have bunches of stuff in the attic stored in cardboard boxes. Those need to be examined and probably some stuff trashed. One of the problems with cardboard boxes is that they become brittle and deteriorate and bugs can get into them. We found some nice sealable plastic boxes at the store that are going to be part of our storage future. Sealing out the bugs is important in this neck of the woods.

Our final stop was at Total Wine, my new favorite liquor store. My son Rob gave me a bottle of whisky of my choice for my birthday. It turns out that my choice was Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. It is nice to get things that have a unique flavor. From reading on the pundit sites, this one should be that way. Of course, being a college trained scientist, a suitable control was required, and the standard Woodford Reserve bourbon was exactly what experimental design considerations dictated should be used. An ounce of each was poured into a glass and the tasting commenced. My humble opinion was that the Double Oaked version was full bodied with a hint of vanilla, chocolate, wood and smoke. Very different from the control which was along the lines of what you expect for a good standard bourbon. Ginny tried them as well and agreed. In this case we didn't have to consult Melinda.
