Project Day 87 - Exile Day 37 - Our appliances were delivered today. There was enough room for them in the garage. Installation is not going to happen for a week or so. The kitchen floor needs grouting and sealing and the walls need painting. Also need to finish off the electrical and plumbing which should happen Monday. The tile guys were here again and Ginny asked them if they could fix some holes in the shower. We had to modify the shower a little to meet code when the house was repiped which resulted in three holes. Her you see Francisco doing the job. He is very good. He carefully shaped the holes and made plugs which fit perfectly and also closely matched the tile in place.
So now we have been in exile for more than five weeks. I am anxious to get back into the house, but we can't return until we get an occupancy permit from the city. We can't get that until the project is complete, including installation of the carpets upstairs. I am betting we should be back within two weeks. Eight weeks was the informal planning basis. Our contractor has made sure that things keep moving along. What's in it for him is that he gets paid faster. By the time this is over a truckload of money will have changed hands.
