We spent the whole day at Mammoth Cave in central Kentucky. We took four hikes. Mammoth cave isn't quite the looker that other caves are. There are very few of the classic stalactite/stalagmite formations that we all associate with caves. The cave has been explored for over a two hundred years. There are currently over 400 miles of passages known, and the number gets bigger every year. The last hike we took was a photographic tour. We had over an hour to photograph using tripods and as usual we learned a lot about photography. It is not as easy as it looks. I would take the opportunity to return in the future and shoot the same formations. It would do a much better job for sure. Even though we spent some time getting ready and thinking what we would do, it turns out we were just winging it because it was our first adventure like this.
