We started out the day at Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby. This is a giant place with lots of activity. There are dozens of stables where the trainers operate. The track can get busy with horses out for training and exercise. We had the opportunity to go to a stand right by the track and watch the proceedings. I don't know beans about horses, but I did find it interesting.

We also visited the Thomas Edison house. When he was young he was a telegraph operator for Western Union and spent about a year in Louisville. The house itself is a former small house where he rented a room. I wouldn't call this a top drawer attraction, but it was interesting.

The last stop of the day was the Jim Beam Urban Distillery. We had a tasting, of course. Then we decided to each fill our own bottle of Jim Beam Stillhouse Select bourbon. That was pretty cool. We also had the bottles laser etched. Watching that laser machine in operation was very interesting. Here Ginny is filling up the dispensing reservoir before filling the bottle.

We ended the day at dinner with friends. We met Paula on one of our photography trips last year. It was a lot of fun to spend time with her and Bill.
