We got up and out of St. John's very early this morning so we could get to Trinity in time for a 10am walking tour. It was a bright sunny day, quite a change from the rin and gloom we have had for the last several days. Our walking tour was very interesting. The guide, our age, was a life long resident of the area, being born in Ireland Eye and relocated to Trinity at an early age. Once again we heard the stories of these out villages and what happened during confederation, the relocation and the cod moratorium. Some very strong opinions. Joey Smallwood was either Jesus incarnate or the devil himself. There seems to be no middle ground.
After lunch we attended a walk-around pageant which depicted life in the community and told of the history. This was the last performance of the season. The tourists are heading home, you know. We attended a dinner theater and musical performance which was terrific. It was about two hours of music and entertainment which I found a lot of fun. After that we went to a play about hockey moms. It was hillarious.
Our first day in Trinity was a hoot. Today's photo is of a modern stage on the shore of Trinity Bay.
